“Self-awareness is the ability to take personal responsibility for the choices we make.” I love this quote because it sums up the essence of how I feel about self-awareness. It is a beautiful truth, and it is one that we all have to learn to live with.
At the same time though, it’s easy to fall into the trap of blaming ourselves for our own behavior. Most of the time we can’t be blamed for our bad behavior no matter how bad we may think we are. There’s just something about the way we’re made that makes us so self-centered.
It is so easy for us to blame our surroundings or our actions for what we do. Afterall, we can always blame our parents, or a teacher, or a friend for something bad we did. It’s something we can do, but it is one of those things that takes a lot of effort to do properly. Self-awareness is a lot more effort than blaming others.
The first time I heard the term, I thought it was about something that needed to be said.
I’m not sure if it was more of my ego or my friend’s ego that got in the way. But after several more discussions, I think its actually about being aware of what we are doing and how it impacts others. If you are aware of what you are doing, you will make sure that you do not do it again.
I think this is a really interesting topic because it is a topic we all need to understand. But as you might expect, the more I think about it, the more I think that there is a lot of ambiguity around the term. Molly is pretty damn accurate in her description of what Molly is. As far as the term self-awareness goes, I think it comes from a person that doesn’t care what others think.
But as far as we know, Molly is exactly what you are describing. We need to be aware of ourselves in order to be aware of how we are interacting with others. Self-awareness is the ability to recognize when you are in danger and then act accordingly. We all have it but many people do not consider it to be a vital function.
Self-awareness is the ability to be aware of our own thoughts and actions and how they can be perceived by others. Self-awareness is also the ability to say, “this is not who I am” or “I am not what I should be.
I’m sure you’ve heard the saying, “No man is an island.” It’s taken on a whole new meaning in the digital age. No longer is there an individual who is solely dependent on the actions of others. All the information we have about ourselves, and the information that’s available to other people, are now just as valuable as the information we have about ourselves.
The first three levels of self-awareness are pretty basic, but we can all go through them at some point. With enough self-awareness, you can then move on to the next level. But we don’t want to be the only people who can see and know what to do. We want to live a life that is fully self-aware and fully competent to make decisions and to make decisions based on what we know and the information we have.
